Canyon Crest is pleased and excited to announce a great new way of signing up for Parent-Teacher Conferences. You will now be able to sign up for conferences from home using the Internet. If your family has more than one child at Canyon Crest, you will be able to simultaneously see all of your children’s teachers’ schedules to make appointments. The system is web-based and can be used from any computer that is connected to the Internet. If you don’t have access at home, you may go to the school library and use the computers there. The system is designed for you to easily make changes if you have a change in your plans. The window for parents to sign up will be during the two weeks prior to Parent Teacher conferences. Obviously, the sooner you sign up the more choices you will have.
Here is the link so that you will be able to sign up for Conferences.

Our wonderful principal, Patricia Anderson, will be retiring at the end of this school year. We are so grateful for the loving and thoughtful way that she has taken care of our students, faculty, staff and parents for the last 10 years. Superintendent Rittel came to our school last Friday, April 19th, to announce the person who will be taking over as principal for the coming school year. (Please see the announcement details from the district website below picture) We are very excited to welcome Principal Johnson to our school.
Culminating a multi-step hiring process over the past several weeks, Darren Johnson has been selected as the new principal for Canyon Crest Elementary School. Johnson is currently the principal at Fir Grove Elementary School in Roseburg, Oregon. Johnson, a graduate of Utah State University, is eager and excited to join the Canyon Crest team and return to the Wasatch Front. He will assume the leadership reins from Principal Pat Anderson and begin his new role on July 1, 2013.
“I was very impressed by the Canyon Crest students, parents, teachers, and community,” Johnson said. “They are all so dedicated to the school and are committed to high achievement. As a Spanish speaker myself, the strong Dual Immersion program at that school definitely caught my eye and made me even more excited about this great school.”
Provo School District Superintendent Keith Rittel and district staff wish to express appreciation to all the parents, staff, and community members who attended the candidate open house and participated in the hiring process.
“We look forward to this next, exciting chapter at Canyon Crest,” Rittel said. “Darren Johnson is incredibly qualified and will be a great fit with the students, staff, parents, and community there.”
PowerSchool now provides the ability to create an account that accesses ALL of your children’s information from a SINGLE LOGIN through the Parent Access Portal. Today, Provo School District is implementing the Parent Access Portal for Powerschool. You will create your own username and password for ease of use.
STUDENTS will login using:
UserName: (first letter of first name, first letter of last name, 6 digit student id number)
- If your student number is less then 6, add zeros to the beginning: example ST001234
- If your student number is 6 digits, just use the numbers: example ST123456
- The student password is the same password they have used in the past.
PARENTS will access Powerschool using their own personal login and password you create. A step-by-step guide is available to help you. You can download it here:
- The Access ID and Password you need to set up the account is your childrens login/password you have used previously.
If you are having problems logging in to powerschool, please check with your students school office.
Mrs. Anderson and Miss Youd traveled to Washington D.C. in November to receive the Blue Ribbon School Award on behalf of our school. This is a prestigious award that was only awarded to three schools in Utah - Canyon Crest elementary in Provo, Dixie Sun Elementary in St. George, and Quail Hollow Elementary in Sandy. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of academic achievement. Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has honored America's most successful public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. A National Blue Ribbon Schools flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities. (Watch for our new flag to be up soon!) In its 30 year history, the U. S. Department of Education has bestowed this coveted award on nearly 7,000 of America's schools. Our Blue Ribbon School Assembly to celebrate this great achievement will be on Friday, November 30th at 10:45 where we will be excited to welcome Mayor Curtis and Provo School Superintendent Rittel to join in the festivities. We are so grateful for everyone that helps to make Canyon Crest such an amazing school where we can "help students achieve at high levels, reach their personal potential, and develop an enthusiasm for lifelong learning." WE LOVE CANYON CREST!

I greatly appreciate the time that you as parents put into handling your child's lunch account. There are just a couple of things that I need to go over to make things run a little bit smoother. Please have your child bring his/her lunch money to the front office at the beginning of school, that way we can put it in before lunch and not during lunch when I have to hold up the line. Also please make sure that you put your child's name on the envelope and hopefully their student ID#. I have had money come in an envelope with no name just saying "Lunch Money". I really want to be able to put the money in the correct student account. Also when you see a stamp on their hand stating that there is lunch money due, this is because your child is either in the negative or getting very low in their lunch account. Please be aware of this so that you don't have to receive a letter or phone call from me. Ålso please remember that Provo School District has a "No Charge Po
Thank you so much for all that you do to make lunch a good experience for your child.
Tami Mills / Canyon Crest Lunch Clerk
Provo school district is pleased to announce that your child's lunch account can now be accessed online. This will give you much more control over payments and help you to manage the balances better. You can link to it from the home page of any elementary school by clicking on the "Child Nutrition" link in the Quick Links menu. You can begin by setting up your account by copying and pasting this link to your browser's address bar:
ALL FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS ARE DUE AS OF SEPTEMBER 23RD OR STUDENTS WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE LUNCH PROGRAM. ALL DROPPED STUDENTS WILL BE CHARGED EACH DAY FOR THEIR INDIVIDUAL LUNCH.
